TUBADUBJAM 2005
THE AWESOME HISTORIC OHIO STATE REFORMATORY - SITE OF "THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION"
Our 2005 show proved itself last year by coming out of the gate with 100 show cars! We have a prime location here at the Historic Ohio State Reformatory a.k.a. “The Shawshank Prison.” Along with the numerous stunning vehicles we had in attendance this year, there was also the Ohio State Reformatory and the tour of the prison itself. The Reformatory staff went above and beyond by providing a RECORD 266 tours the day of the show beating the current record for the most number of tours ever done in a single day event such as this.
We have pledged our help and support to assist with providing funding for the ongoing restoration of this great historical landmark. We will also continue to provide showgoers a treat to go along with their day. These tours are 1 ½ to 2 hours long and end in a gift shop where props used in movies such as "The Shawshank Redemtion" , " Tango and Cash", "Air Force One", and "Harry and Walter go to New York", are available for purchase. Along with the massive 15th century style gothic backdrop of the building itself and its Hollywood history, our show was a winner.
We are planning to add several new items to our show in 2006. One of the attractions we will be offering is a Friday night movie. We are planning on showing the movie “The Shawshank Redemption” in the building where it was filmed on the eve of our show.
At the last minute we were able to provide camping at the site the night before the show . Approximately 12 VW busses showed up to take advantage of these arrangements. We are now providing camping the night before the event for any souls brave enough to stay within the grounds of one of Ohio's haunted sites! Please let us know if you will be in attendance prior to the show and pre-register in advance for other pre show day festivities!
We will also be adding to the number of car classes next year to better nclude each and every unique vehicle that was displayed this year. Awards will be presented in all classes and ther will also be four top awards for Best of Show, DJ's Choice, Promoter's Choice and Warden's Choice.
There will also be a new recipient of the coveted "Ferdi" Award, which was presented in 2005 to Richard King
Please consider joining us in our endeavors. We are centrally located between Cleveland and Columbus, Indiana and West Virginia, Michigan and Kentucky, and we had attendees from each of these locations in our FIRST year!
